Parish Life in 2014

On December 2nd the Sisterhood organized an enjoyable evening for the children: they made their own Christmas cards by gluing together pictures from older cards, and adding their own artwork. Besides this, they helped bake and decorate Christmas cookies. А good time was had by all, big and small! The cards will be for sale. You will soon see them on the Christmas sale table in the narthex of our church.

Второго декабря сестричество устроило увлекательный вечер для наших деток: они мастерили Рождественские карточки из вырезок прежних открыток – раскрашивали, клеили. А кроме этого помогали печь и украшать праздничные печенья. Всем, и детям, и взрослым, было приятно и весело! Карточки будут продаваться. Вы их скоро увидите на Рождественском столе в притворе нашего храма.

On Saturday October 18, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion came to our parish to head our Parish Patronal Festivities. Serving with Vladyka were our Rector Fr. Gregory, priestmonk Theophylact from Holy Trinity Monastery, priest John Boddeker from our neighboring parish in Buffalo, our deacons – protodeacon Andrej Strapko & deacon Nikifor Franklin, and Vladyka’s assistant deacon Denis Lvov. On the next day during the reading of the Hours, our parishioner Alexander Arapov was tonsured to the rank of Church Reader. At the end of Divine Liturgy, following a festive procession around the church, Vladyka Metropolitan awarded protodeacon Andrej with a Gramota of Thanks for his faithful service at the Church as a deacon during the past 15 years. After the service, our Sisterhood invited everyone to join POMOG festive lunch. During the meal, parishioners congratulated Mrs. Nina Wrobel on her 93rd birthday giving her flowers and a birthday card. Following the meal, all returned to their homes having been satiated both spiritually and physically. Under the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God our celebration was truly beneficial for all.

В субботу 18го октября Его Высокопреосвященство Митрополит Иларион приехал возглавить наше приходское престольное торжество. Владыке сослужили настоятель прихода о.Григорий, иеромонах Свято-Троицкого монастыря Феофилакт, священник соседнего прихода в Буффало Иоанн Боддекер, наши диаконы – протодиакон Андрей Страпко, диакон Никифор Франклин, а также келейник Владыки диакон Дионисий Львов. На следующий день во время чтения Часов наш прихожанин Александр Владимирович Арапов был пострижен в сан Чтеца. В конце Божественной Литургии, после Крестного Хода Владыка Митрополит вручил нашему протодиакону Андрею Страпко благодарственную грамоту за его верное служение в дьяконском сане святой Церкви в течение последних 15 лет. После службы сестричество пригласило всех на праздничный обед. Во время трапезы прихожане поздравили секретаря нашего прихода Нину Александровну Вробель с ее 93-летием и подарили цветы с поздравительной открыткой. Насытившись духовно и телесно, после трапезы все разошлись. Под покровом Богоматери, наше торжество прошло весьма полезно для всех.

Service on Great Saturday. Most of the Old Testament readings were done by parish children. During this service the church vestments are changed from the black of Passion Week to Paschal white.

Служение в Великую Субботу. Большинство паремий были прочитаны приходскими детьми. Во время этого богослужения храм переоблачается с черного Страстной седмицы на белые Пасхальные ризы.

Our parish celebrated Lazarus Saturday. Following tradition, the Children’s choir sang under the direction of Elizabeth Franklin. After the Liturgy and lunch, children prepared the palms for the Palm Sunday.

Наш приход отпраздновал Лазареву Субботу с традиционным участием детского хора под руководством Елизаветы Франклин. После Литургии и легкого обеда, дети приготовили букетики вербы для Вербного Воскресенья.
